Enid, ok - The services celebrating and honoring the life of William "Wild Willie/Bill" Puckett, 74, of Enid, will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday October 22, 2025, in the Brown-Cummings Chapel. Bill requested that everyone be comfortable in either jeans or shorts, with red, white, and blue shirts. Burial follows in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bill was born April 9, 1951, to Bill and Loreen Sydle Puckett in Enid, Oklahoma, and passed from this life October 16, 2025, in Enid, Oklahoma.
He was raised and educated in Enid until his sophomore year of high school, when he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, with his family. He graduated from Rider High School. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force to serve during the Vietnam War.
During his service he married Francis in 1971; from this union came one son, Christopher, and one daughter, Carrie. During his enlistment he was an aircraft mechanic for B-52 bombers while stationed in Okinawa. After being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1978 he returned to Enid, Oklahoma. He worked with his brother installing sprinkler systems while attending college at Phillips University, achieving his bachelor's degree with a major in Art Education and a minor in Psychology.
He married Janet Rogers May 18, 1980, and from this union came one daughter, Jessica. He began working for Youth and Family Services for several years before opening the Garfield County Juvenile center as the Assistant Director for seven years and being promoted to the Executive Director, a position he proudly served until his retirement in May 2025.
He had a passion for caring for "his kids" at the center even after they were released. He always had candy on hand and made sure that his "kids" still celebrated Christmas, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July and many football games. He was always an outstanding advocate for "his kids", petitioning at the Oklahoma State Capitol to ensure that the facility had the funding to help "his kids".
He loved working in his yard and his large pond. He also enjoyed sitting or even dancing, now and then, in the back yard with his wife while listening to music and having a Jack and Coke or a banana split.
He is survived by his children, Christopher Puckett and wife Hannah, Carrie Norman and husband Jay, and Jessica Weber and her husband Damon; his grandchildren, Conner, Logan, Rylan, Kaylee, Zack, Grace, Audrey, and Katie; his siblings, Gary Puckett, Suzi Lowe, and Mike Puckett; niece Ashley (Ace) Buck-Rogers; nephews, Gordon Rodriquez and Josh Puckett; and a very special friend, DeeDee Bridgens.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet Puckett; his parents Bill and Loreen Puckett; his siblings Lawrence, Ronnie, Ladonna, and Patty.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the Garfield County Juvenile Detention Center, for candy, to preserve his memory of all of the love, understanding, and care he gave to his "kids", with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
The family requests that those wanting to honor and remember him should sign his casket as a final farewell to him.
