Wayne Joseph Aholt Obituary

Moore, Oklahoma - Wayne was born March 29, 1949, in Fayette, Missouri, and was raised in Glasgow, Missouri. He attended school at St. Joseph Catholic School in Salisbury, Missouri, graduating in 1967. He graduated from Rockhurst College in Kansas City in 1971 with a BS in Business Administration.

Wayne married Allison on August 12, 1972. Upon graduation from college, Wayne worked in Kansas City at Hallmark Cards and then Kroger Foods until 1975, when he was hired by Farmland Industries. He was transferred to Enid, Oklahoma, for a job in human resources and safety at the new Farmland Nitrogen Plant, where he worked for 28 years. In 2003, he was hired by Central National Bank and retired in 2016.

Wayne is survived by his wife Allison; his children Kelly (Bart) Davis, Kristin (Beau) Brumfield, Michael (Sarah) Aholt; grandchildren, Lake and Kye Davis, Kate and Allie Brumfield and Macy, Elizabeth and Bree Aholt; and his siblings Marylyn (Norbert) Monnig, Carolyn (Gerald) Speckhals, Therese (Wayne) Widmer, Keith (Peggy) Aholt, Eugene Speckhals and Evelyn Aholt. Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, Gerard Aholt; his sister, Martha Ann Speckhals; his parents, Mary and Ralph Aholt.

Whether it be helping a widow put up Christmas lights, singing in the choir, or coaching all three of his kids' sports teams, his love and trust in God was evident to those around him.

Wayne's welcoming, hospitable personality made for the perfect open-door policy at his office, where he problem-solved and counseled countless coworkers with a heart of a peacemaker. This open-door policy was also seen at his home in Enid. Upon entering his home, Wayne would greet you from his recliner with a witty nickname, provide a listening ear, and, by your second visit, an invitation to rub his feet! Even if you wouldn't rub his feet, he would be thrilled if you would hang out and watch The Chosen or an OKC Thunder game.

In his 52 years of marriage to Allison, Wayne loved her so well. His desire to build a God-centered family inspired and impacted so many. Wayne was so proud of his grandkids. He made countless trips all over the state to watch their sporting events. Grandpa Snap spent hours holding them in his lap, telling them stories, and making them laugh.

Wayne's funeral will be held on Thursday, May 8th, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Norman, Oklahoma, at 11:00 a.m. Memorials can be made in Wayne's honor to the American Red Cross.

Wayne will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing that Wayne is now healthy and whole with Jesus in heaven.
