Jan. 11, 1925 - April 15, 2011 ST. CHARLES, MO. - Virgil Claud "V.C." Cassel passed away at 12:05 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at home following a heart related illness. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at America's Best, 1970 Craig Rd., St. Louis, MO 63146. Virgil is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Alice Wood Cassel, as well as their six children, 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Virgil also is survived by one sister, Irene Wilds, last of his nine siblings, and her daughter of Corpus Christi, Texas. He has numerous other relatives who mourn his passing. Virgil married Mary Alice Wood on Nov. 21, 1953. Together, they created a life that revolved around music, faith and family. He actively participated in the diverse activities of his children (and later, those of his grandchildren), attending events from musical and dramatic performances to wrestling matches and softball and basketball games. Virgil will be interred at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Mo. Cremation arrangements are by St. Louis Cremation. (Submitted by family)
