Vance Jerome Hammer (Vinnie) Obituary

Marshall, Oklahoma - Vance "Vinnie" Hammer was born on May 13, 1958, to Glendora (Fuller) Hammer and John Jerome Hammer. He grew up on the family farm in Marshall, OK, which was homesteaded in the land run of 1889 by J.L. Hearn, his great-grandfather. He passed from this life on June 10, 2021.

Vance graduated from Marshall High School in 1976 and participated in Football, Band, FFA, and was an FFA State Farmer. He then went to school at Oklahoma State University.

He spent most of his life working on the family farm and later went to work for Dominion Farms.

Vance loved his community and spent much of his time participating in various volunteer roles, including the official city flag duties, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Those that knew and loved Vance appreciated his stories, although these stories often included exaggerated details. These stories were always followed by his contagious laugh.

He never missed an episode of Jeopardy! And loved old westerns.

Vance was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Ashley Hammer.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Hammer, of the home, his son John J. Hammer of Marshall, his daughter Sarah and husband Evan Williams of Guthrie; his brothers Jeff Hammer and wife Dani of Marshall, and Doug Hammer and wife Beth of Independence, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
