Steve was born to Richard Dean and Marilyn Sue (Winter) Simpson on December 28, 1955, in Enid, Oklahoma, and passed away entering heaven on Wednesday May 27, 2026, in Enid.
Steven grew up in Kremlin and graduated from Kremlin-Hillsdale High School in 1974 where he was a part of all-state in football. He then attended college in Stillwater at Oklahoma State University and returned to the Kremlin-Hillsdale area to begin farming with his dad, Dick Simpson, and grandpa, Herman Winter.
On August 4, 1984, Steve married Gay Lynn Estes in Enid, and they made their home in Kremlin, where they raised their two children, Steven Chance and Sierra. Steve was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, being baptized on January 22, 1956, and confirmed on March 22, 1970. He was active in many farm organizations, serving on multiple crop boards. Steve was a member of Ag Leadership and also went overseas to represent Oklahoma Ag Leadership Class. He was an Honorary National FFA American Farmer recipient. Steve enjoyed showing livestock in his younger years, and then instilled that love in his children, nieces, nephews and his grandson. Steve was an avid OU fan, and he loved his time that he spent hunting. His greatest joy was his grandson, Westin, and he loved being able to farm with his son, Chance.
Steve is survived by his parents, Dick and Marilyn Simpson, of Kremlin; his wife Gay of the home; 2 children, Chance Simpson of Kremlin and Sierra Simpson of Durango, Colorado; 1 grandson, Westin Simpson of Enid; 2 sisters, Dian Salisbury and Carolyn LaBrue both of Enid; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman and Vera Winter and Charles and Della Simpson.
