Sondra Lee Hutchison Peacock Obituary

Russell, KS - Sondra Lee Hutchison Peacock, 86, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, in Russell, Kansas.

Sondra was born on August 25, 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Jim and Vera Hutchison. She grew up in Quinlan, Oklahoma, where she attended high school, and later continued her education at NWOSU in 1961.

Sondra was known by everyone who met her as one of the kindest people they had ever known. She was supportive, loving, and steady — a constant source of encouragement to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on at sporting events and school activities. A devoted fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, she especially loved attending OSU games and proudly supporting her Cowboys.

In 1962, Sondra married Kennith Cook. In 1966, they adopted their beloved daughter, Shelly Cook Peacock Peterson, at three months old.

In 1970, Sondra married Don Peacock, and together they blended their family and built a life centered on love, faith, and hard work. They spent 56 years together, living and raising their five children on the family farm west of Jefferson, Oklahoma.

Sondra is survived by her husband Don Peacock of Jefferson, Oklahoma, and her children: Shelly and Curtis Peterson of Olmitz, Kansas; Bret Peacock of Texas City, Texas; Tracy Cink of Richardson, Texas; Tricia Junghanns and Lupe Gonzales of Plano, Texas; and Bart Peacock of Richardson, Texas.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kayla and Allen Cass of Olmitz, Kansas, and their children, Keaton and Alex; Austin and Aimee Peterson of Pond Creek, Oklahoma, and their children, Peyton, Parker, Paislee, Piper, and Sage; Kalicia and Shane Walters of Marietta, Oklahoma, and their children, Lilly, Linkoln, Bronc, and Curry; Tel Junghanns of Topanga, California; Chase Cink of Richardson, Texas; and Chandler Cink of New York, New York.

Over the years, Sondra worked at the ASCS office in Medford until her retirement. She later worked for TJ Inspection before retiring again. Beyond her devotion to family, Sondra enjoyed crocheting, working puzzles, and reading. A faithful member of the Methodist Church of Pond Creek, Sondra's faith was a guiding light throughout her life.

In 2017, Sondra moved to Olmitz, Kansas, to live with Shelly and Curtis Peterson. She spent the past two years at Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Russell Regional Hospital and Main Street Manor for the special love and compassionate care shown to their mother during her final years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Vera Hutchison; her sister, Benita Kovacs; her son-in-law Brad Cink.

Sondra's life was a beautiful example of kindness, devotion, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
