Enid, OK - Phil Sturdevant was born on October 15, 1939, in Altus, Oklahoma, to James M. and Alvana Weibert Sturdevant. Phil died peacefully October 20, 2025, five days after his 86th birthday, at his home in Enid, OK.

Phil grew up in Altus, OK, and graduated from high school there. He had friendships from his school years that endured throughout his lifetime. After graduating with the class of 1957, Phil attended the University of Oklahoma, where he served as the equipment manager for legendary football coach Bud Wilkinson's football team.

In the 1960's, Phil left Oklahoma for California and Colorado. While living in Denver, Phil met the love of his life, Barbara Morehead. Throughout their marriage of 55 years, Phil and Barbara traveled extensively across the United States and around the world. Despite all their travels, Phil's favorite destination remained Creede, Colorado, where he spent a week almost every summer from the age of one, meeting family and fishing on the Rio Grande.

Phil had a vibrant personality and lit up every room he entered — always full of laughter and quick wit. A devoted fan of John Wayne and the Three Stooges, he brought joy and humor wherever he he went. He was proud to be a Christian and a strong conservative.

Phil and Barbara were truly inseparable, and his absence leaves a tremendous void in her heart — as well as in the hearts of many dear friends and family members.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara; his sisters, Carol Ann Taylor and Mary Beth Martin and husband Don Martin; brother-in-law, Tom Morehead; along with many extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Enid Church Chapel, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The family requests donations in Phil's memory be made to Emmanuel Enid Church, 2505 W. Garriott Rd., Enid, OK 73703, or Hospice Circle of Love, 314 S 3rd St., Enid.
