Amarillo, TX - A former Enid resident, Mary was born February 19, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away May 21, 2026, in Amarillo. Mary and Bob were married on June 22, 1967, in Highland Park Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas, and they had also lived in Cincinnati, Ohio; Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and Enid, Oklahoma.

Mary graduated in 1962 from the old John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City and graduated in 1966 from Oklahoma State University, with a Bachelor's of English Degree, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was also a member of PEO and Polk Street Methodist Church in Amarillo.

Mary is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; a son, John and wife Yuna and grandson Jonas, all of Amarillo; two nieces, MaryKay Freeman of Valonia, Arkansas, and Shelley Appell of Hideaway, Texas; and nephew Bob Vandivere of Conway, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Appell; and a sister, Anita Vandivere.

Memorials may be made to Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, and Children's Development Center of Polk Street Methodist Church.
