Canton, OK - Lucille Mae Kephart was born at home on May 15, 1925, southeast of Seiling, Oklahoma, to Amber Herbert Warren and Flora Elizabeth (Horner) Warren. She departed this life on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Enid, Oklahoma.
She was the youngest of 4 children. Her siblings were Ollie Evlen, Forest Luther (Buck), and Bernice Pricilla. Her sister Ollie died at the age of 13 of an appendicitis when they were living in Texas for a brief time, and then the family returned to the Seiling and Canton area.
Lucille began school at Guy School and then later at Con Six School. After another move she attended the 11th grade in Longdale School. Following that year her parents moved again, which would have caused her to go the Seiling High School; instead she moved to Oklahoma City to live with her sister Bernice, where she attended the Oklahoma City Beauty College and earned her license to practice. She worked in a couple of hair salons before opening her own salon in Seiling.
She met her true love, Lonnie Kephart, at the Longdale barn dance one Saturday night. They were later married on April 4, 1947, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Lucille closed her salon in Seiling and moved it to Southard, Oklahoma, where they made their home and Lonnie was employed at the United States Gypsum Plant.
They purchased their first property one mile west of Southard from his sister May and George Kopf. It consisted of 20 acres of which they gave 5 acres to his parents. While living at this residence they were blessed with three children, Lanna Fae, Lanita Rae and Wayne Mark. They purchased their first farm in 1957 and moved there. While at this property they had their fourth child, Neal Perry. In 1964 they purchased their second farm where they moved their family once again. In 1974 or 1975 Lucille got her GED to complete her high school education.
In 2017 when Lonnie passed away, Lucille moved to Brookdale Assisted Living in Enid where she received wonderful care and experienced lots of activities and adventures. That Brookdale bus never left without her on it. They called her Grandma or Lucy at Brookdale. She loved the staff and the staff loved her.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie, parents Amber and Flora Warren, sisters Ollie Warren and Bernice Wallace, brother Forest (Buck) Warren, and granddaughter Elizabeth Davis. She is survived by her children: Lanna and Jim Chaloupek, Lanita and Dale Davis, Wayne and Cheryl (Hladik) Kephart and Neal Kephart; grandchildren: Timothy Chaloupek, Tricia and Terry Hysell, Joshua Davis, Lani and Wayne Espy, Katrina and B.J. Buzzard, Rhonda and Josh Steveson, and Brooke and Caleb Pete; great-grandchildren: Keaton and Ginni Littleton, Kyla Littleton, Connor Chaloupek, Madison Espy, Mason Espy, Taylynn Buzzard, William Buzzard, Aaron Davis; great-great-grandchildren: Kinslee Chaloupek and Stetson Bettis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Canton Christian Church, with Pastor Michael Grigsby officiating.
