Linda Shepard Obituary

Helena, Oklahoma - Linda Sue Shepard went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 29, 2026. She was born on May 19, 1950, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, to Dwain and Evelyn Bonham. She was raised on her family's farm south of Helena and graduated from Helena High School in 1968, where she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, David Shepard. They shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.

After graduating from high school, Linda worked at the Helena National Bank for several years. Their first child, Dusty, was born in 1974, followed by their second child, Sunny, in 1980, and their third child, Daisy, in 1983.

While raising her family, Linda started her own business, Shepard Crop Insurance, which she operated from her home for 28 years before retiring. She was also deeply involved in the family's farming operation. Whether she was preparing delicious, home-cooked meals and delivering them to the field, driving the wheat truck and tractor, or helping catch cattle, where things could get pretty intense at times, she was always willing to lend a hand. Linda was an incredibly hard worker and instilled that same strong work ethic in her children.

Linda was a devoted member of the Helena United Methodist Church, now known as the Timberlake Fellowship Church. Throughout the years, she faithfully served her church by singing in the choir, helping with Vacation Bible School and Logos, and serving on numerous committees.

Nothing brought Linda greater joy than her grandchildren: Kyler, Karson, Kinsley, Paisley, and Sterling. She loved attending their activities and celebrating each of their accomplishments. She also cherished the family's various vacations throughout the years to Red River, Vail, the Gaylord Texan, and Branson, as well as frequent family dinners they enjoyed whenever possible. Her family was the center of her world. By the grace of God, she was given almost 26 extra years on this earth after suffering a major heart attack while in New York City in the fall of 2000.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Dwain and Evelyn Bonham, and one brother, Gary Bonham.

Linda is survived by her husband, David of the home; children, Dusty Shepard and wife, Monica, of Waynoka, Oklahoma, Sunny Shepard and wife, Missy, of Helena, Oklahoma, and Daisy Shepherd and husband, Shawn, of Helena, Oklahoma; beloved grandchildren, Kyler Shepard and wife, JoJo, Karson Shepard, Kinsley Shepard, Paisley Shepherd, and Sterling Shepherd; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Timberlake Fellowship Church, formerly known as the Helena United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Good Hope Cemetery, south of Helena. Viewing will be in Helena on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc. www.lanmanfuneralhome.com
