Enid, Oklahoma - A Celebration of Life service and viewing for Leon Walters, age 86, of Enid, OK, will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Rabbi Rick Koehn officiating. Graveside burial only will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Leon was born in Okeene, Oklahoma, on September 28, 1939, to Homer and Myrtle (Vest) Walters, and he passed away at home March 25, 2026.
He grew up in the Bison, OK, community where he went to school and graduated from Pioneer School, Waukomis, OK.
After graduation, he married the love of his life, Mary (Dalke) Walters, on August 6, 1961, in Enid. Leon and his sister Retha (Walters) Jantz sang on the Channel 5 program, "Drive Music Show," during their grade school years. He won many awards in Tri-State for Vocals. In later years, he and Mary began "The LORD's OPRY," a Music Program, for 13 years for which they brought in many Southern Gospel singers and musicians. He farmed with his dad and then continued on his own. He worked for many years in carpentry and house painting. In 1983, they moved to Enid and he worked for the City of Enid as a Welder and Tradesman until his retirement.
The purpose of his life was glorifying the Lord wherever he was.
Surviviving are his wife Mary; daughters: Twilla (Steve) Beck, Cheryl Hood; sons: Daniel Walters, Eric (Wendy) Walters; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions in Leon's name may be made to the Yad El Messianic Jewish Congregation or Grace Bible Church, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
