Laura Luella (Schleeter) Reim left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on November 6, 2018, at the age of 97, while at the Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Stillwater.

An informal visitation is 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Strode Funeral Home.

Service is 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018, at St. Paul's UCC Church in Marshall. The Reverend Dan Thimmel will officiate. Interment follows at the Marshall North Cemetery.

She was born March 6, 1921, on the family farm southwest of Marshall. Luella was the youngest child of Fred W. and Wilhemine (Hoepker) Schleeter.

She grew up in the Marshall community, except for two years when her family moved to Enid. They returned to the farm and she continued her education at Marshall Schools, graduating from Marshall High School with the class of 1938.

She worked in Enid at her brother's restaurant before marrying her high school sweetheart, Louie E. Reim in 1939.

Later, Luella and Louie began their own life adventure on the family farm. She was the mother of three, a homemaker and busy with all the work involved in being a farmer's wife.

In 1963, they moved into town and spent their retirement years enjoying friends and traveling in their RV.

Luella was a lifetime member of St. Paul's UCC Church (E&R) where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She was active in the Sunday School program, Ladies Guild, choir and was the first woman church council member.

She was a member of the Extension Homemakers Club and always active in the Marshall community, including helping with the annual Prairie City Days. She, along with her dear friend Ginger Hitt, published the Marshall area newspaper, "The Prairie City Piper" as a service to the community.

Later in life, she joined "The Palette's" painting group and with the help of Betty Beeby, developed a talent for oil painting. She especially enjoyed painting beautiful flowers and landscape scenes.

Luella is predeceased by her husband of 70 years; parents; one brother, Raymond; three sisters, Leontine, Lillian and Vi Lois; her eldest son, Terry; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by her son, Denton Reim of Marshall and her daughter, Darla and son-in-law George Beeby of Stillwater.

Grandchildren are Dana (Craig) Key and Tiffany (Mike) Richardson, all of Chandler; Kristina (Aaron) Cassody of Covington; Sheryl (JJ) Nowlin of Yukon; Melanie (Adam) Steinert and Suzanne (Raydn) Bowling, all of Marshall; Tracey (Steve) Luckner of Summit, NJ; and Brandon Reim of North Hollywood, CA; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives and friends.

Donations in Luella's honor may be given to St. Paul's UCC Church, or the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department, both in Marshall, OK 73056.
