Enid, Oklahoma - Judy Grace Huhman, 81, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on November 16, 2025, just hours after celebrating her birthday, surrounded by family. Born on November 15, 1944, in Sheridan, Wyoming, she carried a lifelong love for the mountains and open spaces of her childhood.
Judy was a gifted communicator and lifelong advocate for others. After earning her degree in speech therapy from Phillips University, she spent 10 years at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, where she became an expert in American Sign Language and worked with the pioneering team that taught sign language to chimpanzees, including Lucy and Washoe. She later settled in Enid and worked more than 20 years at NORCE, continuing her quiet, steady work supporting individuals with disabilities.
Beyond her career, Judy poured her energy into the things she loved — Master Gardeners, writing, book clubs, genealogy, and lifelong learning. She also served as a guardian and advocate for the disabled, standing beside those who needed a voice.
In 1979, Judy married Anthony Huhman, and together they raised four sons: Jason, Joe, Jeremy, and John. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and Mimi to her five grandchildren: Riley, Trenton, Brayden, Hannah, and Ashlynn. Her strength, loyalty, and deep love shaped her family and everyone who knew her.
Judy is survived by her husband Anthony; sons Jason (Renee), Joe, Jeremy (Tracy), and John (Joanna); and grandchildren Riley, Trenton, Brayden, Hannah, and Ashlynn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Eula Darlene Elliott.
A memorial service honoring Judy's life will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24th, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel.
Donations may be made to Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, where they will be distributed between Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and the Enid Master Gardeners — two causes that reflect Judy's lifelong love of reading, learning, and growing things.
Judy's legacy of love, resilience, and quiet strength lives on in the generations she leaves behind. Online guestbook and condolences at www.andersonburris.com.
