Enid, Oklahoma - October 30, 1947 - August 29, 2025

Janis Lynn Journey, 77, of Enid, OK, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at Baptist Village, where she had lived for the past seven years, making many dear friends.

Janis was born on October 30, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas, to Robert and Charlotte (Stock) Luby. A devoted wife and mother, Janis lived her life with faith, love, and service at the center. On June 5, 1982, she married the love of her life, Jerry Journey. Together, they built a warm and loving home in Kerrville, Texas, where they shared over 35 years of joy until his passing.

Janis worked as a homemaker and later as a secretary for Hill Country Pest Control in Kerrville, dedicating more than 18 years of service before retiring. She was also an active member of the Turtle Creek Community Church, faithfully serving as treasurer. Creative by nature, she loved crafts of all kinds and found joy in sewing, painting, and sharing her handiwork with others.

Above all, Janis cherished her role as a wife, mother and Nana. She is survived by her children: Delbert Hight II, Maj. (Ret) James Hight and wife Jennifer, and Michele Webster. She leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: Abigail, Kelsey, Caleb, and Gage, who were the light of her life.

Janis is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Charlotte Luby; her husband Jerry Journey; and her brothers, Ronald and Robert Luby.

Janis will be remembered for her gentle spirit, creative heart, and the love she poured into her family, church, and community.

No public service is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janis's name may be made to Turtle Creek Community Church, the Angel Tree, or to the charity of your choice. All arrangements are under the care of the professionals at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory in Enid, OK.
