Enid, OK - A Celebration of Life for George F. "Stormy" Stover, age 85, of Enid, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Ladusau-Evans Chapel, with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

George was born November 26, 1940, in Oklahoma City to Charles and Rheba M. (Stull) Stover and passed away on December 1, 2025, at Greenbrier Nursing Home.

He spent his early years in Oklahoma City, attending local schools before his family moved to Enid in 1956. He graduated from Enid High School in 1958.

Shortly after graduation, George entered the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably through 1962 and completing a tour in the Vietnam War. On June 16, 1961, he married Verda Heartsill in Oklahoma City, and together they welcomed two children, Mike and Gina. Throughout his life, George also shared meaningful chapters with Velma Cornish and with Rita Webb, with whom he had a son, Zac.

Committed to learning and service, George earned his bachelor's degree in law enforcement from Northwestern University. He owned and operated two service stations before beginning his long and accomplished career with the Enid Police Department. Rising through the ranks, he served as Chief of Police for 15 years and retired after 37 years of dedicated service to his community.

On September 15, 2001, George married Mary Ann Wells, and together they built a warm and loving home filled with family, faith, and deep devotion.

George is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his children, Gina (Paul) Shugart, Mike (Kelly) Stover, David (Jessica) Spicer, and Zac (Lisa) Stover; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Sam Folson; and stepchildren Mickie Voss, Von Voss, and Cindy Moore.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Bud" Stover, and his sister, Ramona Folson.

Remembered affectionately as "Stormy," George was known for his strong work ethic, his unwavering loyalty, and his genuine love for the people in his life. His legacy is one of service, family, and strength — a legacy that will continue to bless those who knew and loved him.
