George Michael Nichols ((Mike)) Obituary
Pond Creek, OK - George Michael (Mike) Nichols, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was born on April 16, 1953, and departed this life for his eternal home with God on February 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was welcomed into this life by his proud parents, George Lee and Betty Jane (Biggs) Nichols, and his big sister, Claudia.
Mike was a devoted family man, deeply committed to his high school sweetheart of 54 years, Marsha (Whitaker), and their three children: Christopher, Chad, and Matthew.
As "Papa" to his six grandchildren, Mike adored his family. He was a pillar of strength and perseverance, instilling a strong work ethic in his sons and sharing in their many accomplishments. While a man of few words, his life spoke volumes regarding his dedication to faith, family, and friends. Mike will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A lifelong resident of Grant County, Mike graduated with the Pond Creek class of 1971 and attended Oklahoma State University. His love for and responsibility to his family eventually brought him home to take over the farming operations. Mike also worked in the oil and gas industry as a pumper and field foreman, where he formed lasting friendships. His strong bond with the Pond Creek community drove him to serve on the PC-H school board for 12 years.
Mike was welcomed into his eternal home by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, his grandparents, and other faithful believers. He leaves behind his wife, Marsha, and three sons: Chris (Mary) Nichols, Chad (Ami) Nichols, and Matt (Kayla) Nichols.
His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Katelyn and Addison Nichols, Elizabeth Nichols, Maci (Nathan) Campbell, Jack and Linzie Nichols. He is also survived by his sister, Claudia Newman; his nephews, Joe (Julie) Newman, Scott (Jasmine) Newman, and Kyle Newman; and many loving cousins, family members, and friends.
A celebration of Mike's life, officiated by Minister Ray Rose, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Garriott Road Church of Christ, 601 W. Garriott Rd., Enid, OK, where Mike was a longtime member. A private burial service for his family will be held prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Garriott Road Church of Christ Missions, with Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek, acting as custodian.
The Nichols family expresses our heartfelt gratitude for the many prayers, food, cards, and other acts of kindness extended to us during this difficult time.
"We never lose the ones we love, for even in death their love lives on in our hearts."
