Dennis Myers, Ponca City, died July 9, 2018, in AllianceHealth at the age of 72.
Dennis Myers was born September 7, 1945, in Blackwell, to Howard and Evelyn Myers. He grew up in Blackwell and graduated in 1963.
He attended NOC, graduating in 1965. He then transferred to NWOSU where he received a bachelor's degree in 1967. He married Joyce Seacat on November 17, 1967, in Blackwell.
He entered the Air Force in 1968, and was honorably discharged in 1972. He began in education in Rose Hill, Kansas. He continued his career in Burden, Kansas; Braman and Deer Creek-Lamont Schools. While at Lamont, he received a master's degree from Phillips University.
Following his retirement in Oklahoma he returned to Kansas and taught in Cedar Vale until he retired. He served as teacher, coach and school administrator throughout his career and enjoyed farming during this same period.
Following retirement, they moved to Ponca City to make their home. He was a member of the St. Luke's Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing, attending old car shows, taking road trips and reading Louie L'Amour western novels. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and perform in various activities.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Myers; two daughters, Denise Soesbee and Melanie Moody; a sister, Benita Dulick; a brother, Larry Myers; and four grandchildren.
Service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at St. Luke's Church of the Nazarene, Ponca City. Burial follows in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin.
