Funeral service for DeLawrence "De" Hamilton will be Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Medford. The Rev. Bob Smith and the Rev. Jonathan Gilliland will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., of Medford. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com. De was born June 2, 1926, in Medford, the son of George Alexander and Myrtle Biby Hamilton. De graduated from Gore High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 3, 1944 and was discharged on June 13, 1946. After De returned to Medford, he and Emma Jean Carrier were married on Sept. 29, 1946, in Nash. De worked as a butcher and retired in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Medford and was ordained as a Deacon in 1951. De is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jill Wall and two brothers, Dwayne and Dwight Hamilton. He is survived by his wife, Emma Jean of Medford; two daughters, Sherry Kimber and Jan Stewart both of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
