Curtis Jay Meloy, Sr.
The Funeral for Curtis Jay Meloy, Sr., 82, will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019, at First Baptist Church. Rev. Chris Gordon and Bill Cardin will officiate. Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Curtis was born in Snomac, Oklahoma, on October 16, 1937, to John and Versal Goodwin Meloy and died Thursday November 14, 2019, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid.

He graduated from Norfolk High School in 1956. Curtis married Cherry Baker in Cushing on February 21, 1958. The couple moved to Hennessey in 1965.

Curtis was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a lease operator on the same lease for twenty-five years and retired from Sun Oil Company. Following his retirement, he kept busy with contract pumping.

He is survived by his wife Cherry of the home; one daughter, Denise Meloy; two sons, Curt Meloy, Jr., Russ Meloy and Susan Meloy; one son-in-law, Bobby Smith; ten grandchildren, Curtis Meloy, III, Nathan Meloy, Rachel Rogers, Maleah Ashcraft, Dakota Meloy, Lara Meloy, Josh Meloy, Tim Smith, Noah Smith, Jennibeth Smith, and their spouses; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Margie Smith, three sisters and three brothers.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to The Gideons, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
