Long-time Stillwater resident Beverly Jo (White) Lovell Hesser, 88, died Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Brookdale of Enid, OK, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel, with Valor Hospice Chaplin the Rev. Jeffrey Baker officiating, following a private burial at Fairlawn Cemetery.
Beverly was born October 20, 1929, in Stillwater to George H. White and Bertha B. (Owings) White. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1947 and attended Oklahoma State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music in 1951.
On September 12, 1950, Beverly married her high-school sweetheart, James Asa Lovell, in Stillwater and they celebrated 44 happy years prior to his death on May 12, 1994.
A devout Christian and long-time member of the Stillwater First Christian Church, she shared her love of God with young people by teaching primary Sunday school. She was also a member of the Chancel Choir and Christian Women's Fellowship for many years. An accomplished pianist, Beverly played for several organizations including the St. Cecelia Music Club, Project Heart, Rotary, Golden Oaks Village, Stillwater Christian Villa, and the Galilean Sunday School Class.
Beverly was employed by Oklahoma State University for several years and held various positions in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Following the death of their first spouses, Beverly and I. Jay Hesser were married on November 16, 1996. They were together for 14 years until his death on December 26, 2010.
In addition to her two husbands, Beverly is predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Robert H. White and James E. White; and sister Shirley A. Smith.
Survivors include her children, Janet L. Lawson of Stillwater, Larry A. Lovell and wife Danine of Perkins, Mary L. Lauderdale and husband Dennis of Enid; grandchildren, Rebecca Helscel and husband Jack, Erik Woodall and fiancee Orpha White, Jennifer Miller and husband Mike, Erin Haney and husband Cody, Nathan Lauderdale and wife Jaymee, Lauren Lauderdale; great-grandchildren, Cameron Cox and wife Samantha, Summer Cox, Ethan Woodall, Arrow Woodall, Elisha Haney, Sawyer Lauderdale, Chloe Haney; great-great-grandchildren, Aiden Jimenez and Griffen Cox. She is also survived by children from her second marriage, one daughter, Darlene Lewis and husband Cleve of Edmond; one son, Ronald Hesser and wife Janice of Poteau.
