The funeral for Frederick Allen Holliday II, 39, of Washington, D.C., will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Newman Funeral Homes, Grantsville, Md. The Rev. Tom Holliday will officiate. Burial will be in Grantsville Cemetery. A memorial service also will be 5 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Washington, D.C. Arrangements are by Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. Family visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. He was born March 31, 1970, in Grantsville to Frederick A. and Joan E. Bolt Holliday and died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at his home. He graduated from Frostburg State University with a bachelor of science degree in theatre and attended Oklahoma State University for one year, working toward his master’s degree in film studies, which he completed at American University, Washington, D.C. He then received his doctorate of film studies degree from the University of Kansas. He was a professor of film studies at Carroll County Community College, Westminster, Md., Towson University, Towson, Md., the University of the District of Columbia, Washington, and most recently American University. He was a member of Society for Media and Film Studies, UFVA and Grantsville Post 214, Sons of the American Legion. He was of the Catholic faith. Surviving are his wife, Regina S. McCanless Holliday, formerly of Enid; two sons, Frederick Allen Holliday III and Issac Raymond Holliday, both of the home; his parents, Frederick and Joan Holliday; two sisters, Joy Harrison of Roseburg, Ore., and Carrie Holliday of Whitesburg, Tenn.; and his maternal grandmother, Ellen Bolt of Frostburg.
