Text size

Verna, 86, beloved wife of Douglas M. Hawke, was born May 27, 1930, and passed away Saturday April 15, 2017 at Mesa Manor Nursing Home.
The couple were married for 68 wonderful years.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her children, Marsha Waitley, Rick (Barbara) and Julie (Don) Kendall.
She has six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two sisters, Wilma (Clinton) Evans and Joyce Burright, both from Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.
Verna was a secretary and a CWF leader for the First Christian Church many years ago. She was once a deaconess at Northeast Christian Church and was a good Christian woman.
She owned Verna's Gift Shop for eleven years and then worked as a bookkeeper for H&H Bentonite, the business she and Doug had, for ten years.
They retired and moved to Enid. Missing their children and grandchildren, after eleven years, they returned to Grand Junction to enjoy their family.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Mesa Manor for the kindness and love shown to Verna during her short stay there.
The memorial service was on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Memorial donations may be made to Mesa Manor Center, 2901 N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506-2811.
Goodbye Verna.
