George "Barney" McDevitt, 69, passed away at home on Friday, June 9, 2017.
A private family memorial was held at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home, Wichita Falls, Texas.
Son of the late James Paul and Rose Ella (Kitchen) McDevitt, Barney was born Jan. 18, 1948, in Los Angeles, Calif.
He served our country proudly in the United States Navy during Vietnam. On March 6, 1970, he married Sandi Jeffrey.
He retired from Sears after 37, years where he worked as the store manager.
Barney enjoyed playing cards and golfing. He was funny, outspoken and intelligent, and loved his family dearly.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Martha Osborn.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandi McDevitt; two daughters, Kelly Hughes of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Brandy Deacon of Wylie, Texas; his son, Jeromy McDevitt of Wylie, Texas; his sister, Penny Spoonemoore and husband Dean of Enid; and three grandchildren that he adored, Tyler and Megan Hughes of Wichita Falls, Texas and Elizabeth Stewart of Wylie, Texas.
