Virginia W. King, 91, passed from this life on Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Spanish Cove, Yukon.
She was born Aug. 19, 1925 in Carrier, daughter of the late Walter and Estelle (Rusmisel) Went.
A 1943 graduate of Carrier High School, she then attended Phillips University, Enid. Virginia furthered her education at Oklahoma A&M, Stillwater, receiving a bachelor's degree in 1949.
She then received a master's degree from Central State University, Edmond, where she continued with her professional career as an assistant professor of art 1965-1987.
After retirement, she was a docent at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum 1987-2003.
Virginia is survived by sister, Jarilyn Riley; sons, Philip and Steven King; daughter-in-law, Sun Young King; grandsons, Trevor, Cameron and Christopher King; nephews, David Coombs and Roger Went; nieces, Robyn Congdon, Jana Coombs, and Dianne and Carolyn Riley; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by husband, Robert King; brother, Russell Went and sisters, Jeanne Went and Janice Coombs.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon.
