Travis's Story

Travis Manning Provost of Virginia Beach, Va., passed from this life on June 3, 2017 after a valiant battle with colon cancer. He was born Feb. 15, 1967, in Stillwater, to Joy Hadwiger and Jerry Provost.
He attended Casady School in Oklahoma City, graduating in May 1985. After high school Travis attended Arizona State University, graduating in August 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He received a Master of Business Administration from Boston University in 2000.
Travis joined the United States Marine Corp Nov. 10, 1989, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in April 1990. He served six deployments including Iraqi Freedom in 2005. After a distinguished and decorated career, Travis retired in April 2014 at the rank of Colonel.
Travis married Catherine Rebecca Copeland Jan. 4, 1992, in Spartanburg, S.C. To this union two children were born, Hannah (20) and Jake (15). They made their home in Jacksonville, N.C. and Virginia Beach, Va.
Travis enjoyed working with youth sports; coaching football, basketball and baseball through the Virginia Beach Recreation Centers and serving as assistant baseball coach at Lynnhaven Middle School. He was an active member of Eastern Shore Episcopal Chapel in Virginia Beach.
Travis is survived by his wife Rebecca and his children Hannah and Jake of Virginia Beach. His mother, Joy Hadwiger of Tulsa, his grandfather Don Provost of Enid, uncles and aunts Joe and Gail Hadwiger, LaDonna and Roger Groves, cousins Jessica (Hadwiger) and Andrew Smith and Jayna Hadwiger. Many relatives, friends and fellow Marines.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Provost, his maternal grandparents Quentin and Meredith Hadwiger and his paternal grandmother Twyla Provost.
A Memorial Services will be conducted at Eastern Shore Episcopal Chapel, Virginia Beach. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. will occur at a future date.

Travis was loved and respected by many and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
