Shirley E. Coker was born on February 21, 1937, at Coats, KS, to Ray and Addie (Shutts) Hogard. She departed this life on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Enid, OK.
Shirley graduated high school at Attica, KS, in 1954. She worked for the F.B.I. In Washington, DC, and in Miami, FL. She then worked at Vandenburg Air Force Base. She moved to Oklahoma and worked at the Enid Sale Barn and began working at the Fairview Sale Barn in 1969. She worked at the sale barn for over 30 years. She had lived in the Fairview area since 1966. She enjoyed putting puzzles together.
Shirley married D.E. Starkey, Jr. in 1956 at Washington, D.C., and later married Jess Coker on October 16, 1964.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jess Coker; one son, Justin Starkey; one brother, Don Hogard.
Survivors include one son, Jeff Starkey and wife Alice of Fairview, OK; one sister, Kaye Clifton; numerous nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren.
Viewing Sunday will be noon to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017, at Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Travis Schmidt officiating.
