Memorial services for Roberta Curtis will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Smith officiating. She was cremated at her request under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Roberta Mae Curtis, daughter of Ula Mae Mills and the late Robert Mills, was born April 9, 1950, at Buffalo, Oklahoma, and passed away May 24, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 67 years, 1 month, and 15 days.
Roberta grew up in Buffalo before moving to Alva to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University. After graduating with a degree in Education, she raised two sons and spent a lifetime dedicated to teaching and helping others. She retired in 2014 after more than 20 years working for the Department of Corrections.
Roberta enjoyed good food and keeping her mind engaged through reading historical books or researching the latest newsworthy topic. Most of all, she loved spending time with dear friends and family, laughing, reminiscing, and making new memories.
Roberta was preceded in death by her father, Robert.
She is survived by her two sons, Robby Curtis and his wife, Dorothy Virden, of Oklahoma City, and Stacey Curtis of Valencia, Spain; her mother, Ula Mae Mills of Buffalo; her brother, Johnny Mills of British Columbia, Canada; her sister, Loretta Mills of Buffalo; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
