Paula Marie Simms

Events

Paula, later and most affectionally known as Grandma, loved to be with her grandsons. Grandma spent her life loving, caring for, and giving to others.
Her entire life she remained ambitious, diligent, and dedicated to her child care businesses. There is no way to tell how many thousands of young children she provided care for. Multiple generations of parents sought the comfort and quality of her programs. She was not only a teacher of children, she was an administrator to hundreds of teachers through her 4-plus decades of work.
If you knew her ... then you knew her. She left zero room for doubt about her stand when carrying out professional tasks. Striving for excellence was mandatory with Grandma. The physical and emotional exhaustion that any person experienced while attempting to keep pace was a testament to the fact.
In addition to her passion for her childcare centers, Grandma loved to spend time with her son Jeremy and grandsons Garrett and Steven operating the family ranch. Each day of calving season she could be found patrolling the calving pens from before sunrise until after sunset. She logged countless miles in her side by side glassing through the pens observing and reporting on impending newborns. If it were possible to wear out a pair of binoculars she surely would have. During any field chores that she didn't directly participate in she ensured the boys had a feast waiting as they arrived at the shop.
A legacy of greatness, generosity, ferocity, and ethics will surely live on in her name. Her family will strive to at least fill a corner in the enormous footsteps that she left behind.
Grandma was survived by her son, Jeremy Brooks and wife Jamie, grandsons Garrett and Steven; son Jeff and wife Darla, grandchildren Cole, Wyatt, Mary, Will, Kate, David, Ryan, Hudson, Max, Joy, all of Enid; brothers Bobby and Eddy King; sister Patsy Phee; and numerous beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Reed.

I will always remember Paula she was loving caring person and treated everyone the same. She was my very first boss I had and have I learned so much from her at a young age and have used the tools she taught me throughout my life. I was so glad to have the opportunity to see her when I was back in Enid for my class reunion she had taken time to let me see Busy Bee's which I had worked at and all the changes she had done. Paula will be missed by all she touched in her life and hopefully we will all be together again starting another Busy Bee's in heaven with her. So sorry for your loss and she will always have a special place in my heart. May God continue to bless her family thought this diff...icult time. Love you Paula.Read more

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Paula. She was a good friend of mine at EHS and a few years afterwards. She and her sister, Donna, were so beautiful. The class of 1971 mourns her death. She always had such a beautiful smile. She will be missed by many.

Ms. Paula was EVERYTHING. She watched me from 4 years old at Busy Bee (Turn the page) up until i aged out at happi Time then the DAY i turned 16, offered me a job at the daycare. took me to jeff & jeremy’s softball games, took me for ice cream, sneak me in the office for a taco mayo lunch, she had a mother’s touch to everyone for sure. gonna miss her lots & lots.

Paula and her staff has taken care of several of my nieces and nephews and everyone loved her dearly. Personally, more recently, she attended a Women's Group Bible Study and activities that I doo was a part of. She was eager to learn more of God's Word and always came with a big smile and a generous heart! She will be missed.
Sending prayers for strength, comfort, and peace to her very loved family. May God be with you all always.

I worked at Busy Bees for many years. Paula will be remembered for her love to me and my girls. She was not only a dedicated Day Care owner, she was the only boss I ever had that I loved going to work everyday. My condolences to the family, and to Jeff and Jeremy. Thank you Paula for your work and the love you shared.
