I participated in a glorious celebration of Karen's life on Sunday, 1-14-18 at our home church in Columbia, MD. She was an integral part of Columbia Baptist Fellowship as well as my Alleluias choir director. Both our choirs sang together in a music and praise-filled service that Karen had planned out herself beforehand. Ever the consummate organizer.....right to the end. She served her Lord with love and integrity and treated those around her with that same compassion. She will be sorely missed !!

My husband and I worked with Karen during her days at Woodlawn High School. She was the most genuine person I ever met. She was kind and caring and managed to see good in everyone. What I loved most about her was the twinkle in her eyes when she smiled. I will miss her at our WWETL (Woodlawn retirees group) luncheons. I do know that she will be a great addition to the angel brigade watching over us. I just pray that she and my husband don’t play any practical jokes on us from their exalted position in the heavens. :)) It was a privilege to know and work with Karen. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

In all of my interactions with Karen she was always a caring consummate professional. She never lowered the bar to make students successful. Like all great teachers she created the environment in her classroom for all students to be successful! It was a pleasure to work with her at Hereford High. She was what the Hereford Family is all about!

I was a member of The Alleluias under Karen's direction when I lived in MD. I 'm. retired now in NC, but I still keep up with my Alleluias family. I wish to express my sincere condolences to Karen's family. I learned a great deal, musically and spiritually from Karen. We went to the Baltimore Symphony together and traveled together to sing new music in SC as well as laugh and sing all over MD. Hard as it is for us the living, Karen is with her Lord and pain free. She had such a big smile that made her eyes sparkle and a funny laugh. These memories I will hold dear in my heart, for as long as I live. I can't be there because I am nursing my 92 year old mom at her home after having pneumonia. ... May God bless you all. BethRead more

I've known Karen for 25+ years, but especially these last 13 as she was my awesome director for the Alleluias choir I sing with and my sweet Sunday School teacher. I couldn't have asked for better and I'm so blessed to have called her friend. Hugs to you, Denice .... you are frequently in my thoughts and prayers.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Karen. She was well respected by the HHS faculty and, more importantly, the students.
