James C. Thomas, age 73, of Hamilton, OH, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, in Richmond, IN.
He was born November 29, 1943, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, the son of the late Porter and Aleta (nee Bynum) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas dedicated over 28 years to his country, serving in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, 3 Meritorious Service Medals, and 3 Commendation Medals.
After active military service, Mr. Thomas worked for the Department of Veteran's Affairs as a field officer for 14 years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He also required complete silence on all golf course tee boxes and putting greens.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (nee Delph) Thomas; 6 children, Dana (James) Scarito, Brian (Gloria) Owens, David (Tami) Owens, Kelly (Tracy) Moore, Derrick (Jeans) Owens, and Amy (Ben) Bodily; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Diane Haney and Rebecca (Eddie) Fann.
Mr. Thomas was also preceded in death by his sister Ramona Thomas, and 2 grandchildren, Michael and Adam.
Visitation at THE WEBSTER FUENRAL HOME, 3080 Homeward Way, at Rt. 4, Fairfield, on Friday October 13, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM, with President Sid Martin, officiating.
