Helen D.'s Story
The funeral service for Helen D. (Spaeth) Unruh is 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Rosary service is 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Burial is 2 p.m. the same day in Cottonwood Cemetery, Hitchcock.
Helen was born in Okeene May 3, 1934, to Anton and Amelia Esther (Nault) Spaeth and passed away August 12, 2017, in Enid.
Helen was raised in Hitchcock and attended Hitchcock schools, graduating in 1952.
After graduating, she attended Oklahoma State University. On July 28, 1953 she married Milfred Unruh at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hitchcock, where the couple made their home.
She worked on the family farm, as-well-as a caregiver. Helen was a long time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing and working on her yard but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Helen is survived by her children, Cindy Waggoner of Yukon; Jerry Unruh (Ginny) of Hitchcock; Charlotte White (Alan) of Enid; Mary Nelson of Enid; Lori Unruh and puppy Gracie of Pond Creek; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Anton, John and Kenny Spaeth and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mary Ann Spragins; brother, Mike Spaeth; sons-in-law, David Waggoner and Neil Nelson.
