Geneva Maxine Sheffield


Graveside service for Geneva M. Sheffield will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Ames Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home with John Sheffield officiating.

Geneva was born September 20, 1920 in Aurora, Kansas to Homer and Bertha (Detrixhe) LeClair and passed away April 21, 2019 in Enid. In 1941, she married J.P. Sheffield. She and J.P. made their home in various towns in Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma including final years in Enid. J.P. preceded her in death in 2002; she was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leo LeClair.

She was a part of the church family at the Ames church of Christ and later at the North Garland church of Christ in Enid. She held numerous positions during her years of employment including work with the Bank of Kiowa in Kiowa, KS. Geneva truly enjoyed fishing, growing flowers, and hosting family gatherings.

Geneva is survived by her two sons and their wives, John and Christy Sheffield of Guthrie, OK, and Tom and Jan Sheffield of Fullerton, CA. Also surviving are six grandchildren and their spouses: Matthew Sheffield (Angie) of Lafayette, IN; Amy Martin (Steve) of Nixa, MO; Celia Lightsey (Brent) of Edmond, OK; Brent Sheffield (Kate) of Southlake, TX; Craig Sheffield (Stephanie) of Murphy, TX; and Sandra Verrengia (Mark) of Ladera Ranch, CA. Additionally, she is survived by eleven grandchildren and her siblings: Janet Fail of KS, Betty Griffin of KS, Mary Fenton (Don) of AR, Jerry LeClair (Shirley) of KS, and sister-in-law, Judy LeClair of KS. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews.
