Dr. Lloyd H. Lambert

January 19, 1929 - February 01, 2019

Dr. Lloyd H. Lambert Dr. Lloyd H. Lambert passed away peacefully on February 1, 2019 at Dunn's Vista (Morningstar Care Homes) in Baldwin City, KS. Martha, his loving wife, of 69 years was at his side. Memorial service in celebration of his life will be on Saturday, February 9th, at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Christian Church, 11411 S. Quivira Road, Overland Park, KS. He will be interred at the Enid Cemetery in Enid, OK. Lloyd was born the fourth of six children to Albert E. and Vera M. Lambert on January 19, 1929, in Arkansas City, KS. His formative years were in La Junta, CO, with a close-knit family. He enjoyed reuniting with his siblings and other family members at his sister and brother-in-law's Colorado cabin. He graduated from Phillips University and then Phillips Theological Seminary. Postgraduate study locations included Union Theological Seminary in New York City and Boston University School of Theology. He ultimately received the Doctor of Divinity degree from Phillips Theological Seminary in 1978. On March 15, 1951, he married Martha Ellen Dillon of Enid, OK. Together they had two sons, David and Michael. He served multiple churches through his lengthy ministerial career including Christian Church in Prague, OK; Christian Church in Seminole, OK; Rogers Heights Christian Church in Tulsa, OK; Riverdale United Church of Christ in Dedham, MA; Broadway Christian Church in Wichita, KS; Central Christian Church in Enid, OK; Raymore Christian Church in Raymore, MO; and Dearborn Christian Church in Dearborn, MO. His work extended beyond his local churches including the Phillips Theological Seminary Board of Trustees, Board of Oklahoma Conference of Churches, and Rotary Club. In addition, he was a 32nd degree Mason. Dr. Lambert was an excellent religious educator, counselor and church administrator but was most notable for his gifted delivery in the pulpit. His commitment and dedication to his calling as a minister is perhaps best shown by a small piece of paper that he attached to every pulpit from which he spoke...."feed my sheep." Lloyd is preceded in death by brothers Eddie, Donald, and Jimmie and sister Vuni. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ellen, sons David (Colette) and Michael (Joan), grandchildren Grant (Emily), Harrison (Kassi), Connor, Jesse, Dez (Kristen), Renelle (Leo), Collin (Jessie); great grandchildren Elliot, Calvin, Rose, Jonathan; sister Joanne (Jim). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Lloyd and Martha Lambert Scholarship Fund - Phillips Theological Seminary, 901 N. Mingo Road, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74116.

My condolences to Mrs. Lambert, Mike and David and their families. Dr. Lambert baptized me at Central Christian Church in Enid, Oklahoma in 1973. Central, under Dr. Lambert's guidance was a wonderful place to grow and learn of God's love. I know countless people have been touched by Dr. Lambert's warmth and kindness - a life well lived. He will be greatly missed. Much love to you all.

Condolences to the entire Lambert Family. We were so sorry to hear of Dr Lambert's passing and hope that our Lord blesses you with his love at this difficult time. Dr. Lambert married us at Central Christian Church on August 18, 1979, and invited us to sing at services many times--always a joy! He was a superb pastor and always showed so much care for everyone in his flock. He will be missed but his memory will remain with us always. Much love to Martha and the boys.

My heart goes out to the family during this difficult time. Dr. Lambert was the heart and soul of my upbringing in Enid at CCC. He baptized me in 1969 and my journey with the Lord truly began. He brought together a tremendous fellowship, both young and old, who loved to worship together. Even though I haven’t seen Dr. Lambert in 30 years, he and his family remain close to my heart. May God Bless each of them and give them peace in knowing that he is now celebrating with the Lord.

Mike and Family,
Interesting how our parents lives crossed from Phillips to Foxwood and many roads in between. Praying you find comfort in remembering his extraordinary journey.

I am so very sorry to hear of Lloyd's passing. He and Martha were such an integral and important part of my childhood. They were extremely important part of my parents' lives. Keeping all of you close in thought during this difficult time. (Lloyd passed away exactly five years after my dad died on Feb. 1, 2014.)

Martha, David and Michael, I was in junior high school when you came to serve Rogers Heights CC in Tulsa. My dad Jim was a greyhound bus driver who was in a serious wreck, and Lloyd recognized his name from a radio newscast and came to our house to pray with my mother and me, only a month or so after arriving, I treasured his sermons that helped me grow in faith, and I remember how we all prayed for a miracle when Michael was born. May God bless all of you as you celebrate Lloyd's life and ministry, and bring you peace and comfort knowing how many lives his ministry, and youre, touched.

Grant and family, your loss of this loving man will be heart felt for years to come but the joy of knowing he is with our Lord is amazing. I'm sure the reunion with his siblings would be a site to see. God has received another angel.
